It’s up to us to ask what the future of our industry could be not merely what it has been. Through numerous chapter events, we strengthen community bonds, provide opportunities for networking and mentorship, build leadership skills, and celebrate the accomplishments of our peers. IIDA works to advance the value of interior design and its practitioners as well as to cultivate leadership within the profession. IIDA has more than 12,000 Members in nine specialty Forums in 30 Chapters around the world committed to enhancing the quality of life through excellence in interior design and advancing interior design through knowledge. The IIDA New England Chapter (IIDA NE) was incorporated in 1972 and serves the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

IThe Mission of IAD is to promote philantrophic, social, ethical and empathic design practices and principles, to help its members communicate their values clearly and transparently to public. Utilizing a professional production company, the chapter filmed presentations in showrooms across their chapter, commercials for membership, and a live portion for member participation.
IIDA was founded in 1994 as the result of a merger of the Institute of Business Designers (IBD); the International Society of Interior Designers (ISID); and the Council of Federal Interior Designers (CFID). The goal of the merger was to create an international association with a united mission that would represent Interior Designers worldwide. Since that date, IIDA has worked to convene communities of Interior Designers across regions and specialties representing the interests for the entire community. IIDA is the only organization with a proven history and focus on how interior design impacts the bottom line.
This year the IDA has introduced NEW categories to acknowledge the evolution of the design industry across architecture, interior, product, graphic and fashion design disciplines. They streamlined the submissions process, and had more engagement than ever from student members—with doubled entries from students, the chapter was able to double the scholarships they awarded. Sponsorships were provided commercial time, product spotlights, and the opportunity to present awards. By adopting a unified theme each year, we address the most important needs of our local community and focus our work on the communities and organizations where we can have the greatest impact. IIDA has Membership opportunities for every career level including Students, Designers, Architects, Educators, Manufacturers and Representatives.

IIDA understands that Membership is personal, meaningful and shapes you as an individual and practitioner throughout your career, adapting with your needs. IIDA advances the profession of Interior Design through the progressive cultivation of innovative leadership and by constantly advocating for exceptional design.
Whatever the reason is, we at IIDA New England are blessed with a large source of incredible volunteers. ResearchIIDA provides members with access to the full annual IIDA Demographic Survey and the searchable results tool to dive deeper into the data. Some IIDA Chapters conduct study groups or have study guides and/or materials available. Contact your local Chapter or your Chapter VP of Professional Development for more information or to request programming. IAD Membership applications are open for both Executive and Member Branch of the IAD.
